Frequently Asked Questions
About Truckee River Rafting
How do I get to your location for River Rafting?
Directions are on our map here and remember to look for the Green banner, bright YELLOW umbrellas and our famous "Riverman " logo.
What do I wear?
Shorts and/or bathing suits. Footwear is mandatory, flip flops are OK.
Can we bring food and drinks?
A small cooler is welcome. NO metal or styrofoam coolers, and NO glass bottles.
How long does it take?
The trip can take 2-3 hours, depending on the river level and how often you stop along the way.
How deep is the water?
Most of the river is 3-4 feet deep, with a few ponds that are about 20 feet deep.
Are there any rapids or waterfalls?
There are 5 sets of easy rapids. However, the last set just before River Ranch is the most challenging. We supply life vests for everyone, as it is quite easy to get bounced into the water. There are no waterfalls.
Where do we get out of the river?
All rafters exit the river at River Ranch pond. Our docks are on the right hand side.

Are there any age restrictions?
2 years old is the youngest we allow. However, certain circumstances may be allowed if OK’d by staff. The elderly are not advised to raft
Are there any restrooms along the way?
We have placed portable restrooms about every mile on the river bank next to the bike trail. We also have restrooms at our launch and at the shuttle pick up area.

It flows east through Reno and ends in Pyramid Lake.
How cold is the water?
Refreshing! 65-70 degrees.
Do you recycle?
We place approximately 20 trash and recycle receptacles along the river, emptying at least one, sometimes two a day. All containers are sorted at our facility. A portion of the proceeds from deposits go into a fund set up by us called the "Tahoe Truckee Restoration Project" (TTRP) The fund is used to rebuild and restore stream bank erosion.
Should we bring towels?
We don’t recommend it, the towels will only get wet.
Can we fish?
No fishing poles are allowed. Neither are hooks or pointy poles, but feel free to bring a net!
